Gen X
Synopsis
On a busy end of the week winter evening where most folk like to wind down and enjoy the commencement of the weekend indulge in wining and dining in order to expel the tension that has accumulated from their weekly working chores.
The scene embarks in a plush off the high street restaurant. Waiters rush backwards and forwards providing excellent service to the clientele. Alone seated in a quiet, exclusive and secluded area of the restaurant is Audrey. An attractive young lady in her early forties awaits her blind date Richard to appear. Likewise, he too is an attractive man his forties.
On arrival Richard comments his earlyness of two minutes in an attempt to demonstrate a slight sense of enthusiasm, but to his surprise he finds Audrey readily waiting at the table for her date – him.
After the wine has been served (a Deuxième Cru white Bordeaux no less), sarcastic comments and laughter slackens the tense nerves that romantics have on their first date.
During the evening after having a few glasses of wine, Audrey mentions that she is adopted, to which Richard is totally oblivious. Strangely enough, Richard too had been adopted from birth. A slight tension escalates as we learn more into the lives of Audrey and Richard. Certain revelations are made about Audrey’s life as she slowly unravels them in their rendezvous.
As the climax approaches both characters become fully acquainted with one another. Now having gained Richard’s confidence, Audrey drops a bombshell by revealing that she had purposely located Richard and arranged the meeting as a means to state that they were half-siblings.
A little clichéd? Well, don’t worry it gets far more enthralling as the film unfolds into something least expected.
